The main thing many webmasters do when they begin to build links is anchor the text with ‘click here’ or ‘read this’, let me tell you now, this is a big mistake. Anchor text is the most powerful link building concept and is often the difference between those that rank and those that do not. On top of this anchor text is fairly easy to get, you can use multiple techniques including directory submissions and guest blog posting to get those all important keyword targeted links.

One of the main things Google will look at in your link profile is relevancy, how relevant is the page, domain and page title you are getting your link from to your own content. There is no point getting a link from a page that has no relevance to your content or product, look for links from pages within your niche and reap the rewards.
