Here are a few link building methods that you must avoid or else you may get your site banned/penalized/filtered from major search engines like Google, yahoo and others.
Directories
Never submit your site in several cheap paid directories that send zero traffic and sell off topic run-of-site links.
Forum Spam
Do not often use your website URL as a signature in different forum sites you have joined. And never exclusively post when you can add links to your sites in the post area. And also never ask questions about who provides the best widget where widget is an item that you sell. From the same IP address create another forum account and answer your own question raving about how great your own site is. Posting also on forum threads that are years outdated exclusively to link to your semi-related website are not good in link building .
79. Sign up for profiles on forums you never intend on commenting on.
Blog Spam
Never reply spammy keywords in blogs comment. And don’t ever discuss topics on the same time every now and then . It’s better to write a new one instead of repeating the same topics. And importantly avoid posting none related things into a particular topic. Also sending pings to everyone talking about a subject must be avoided.
Garbage Link Exchanges
Don’t ever send link exchange requests mentioning your PageRank and avoid sending link exchange emails which look like an automated bot email. And you wouldn’t get links from nearly-hidden sections of websites listing hundreds or thousands of off topic sites.
Spam People in Person
Don’t go to webmaster conferences telling them how rich you are, and how your affiliates make millions doing nothing. Also avoid asking people if they have linked to your site but most people do this kind of link building strategy.
Be Persistant
Avoid sending webmaster an alert to every post you make on your website. And also sending a webmaster an email every single day asking for them to link to your website is not good. Also stay away from sending references to your site to the same webmaster from dozens of different email accounts.
Getting Links
Stealing is a crime so never steal content published by well known names also by stripping out any attribution.

As I was searching the net on how to monetize my site with paid ads I found an article about Google adsense on how to get a high click rate by just the arrangement or proper placement of you site. Well if you were ask “Is there really any truth to the rumors that where you place those Google AdSense ads can actually improve response?” According to the best information, the answer to that question is: Yes.
Google’s own AdSense experts say that that there is a direct correlation between the placement of the AdSense ads and the resulting clickthrough.
When ads are placed in “content zones”, meaning inside the text of you articles, news and topics and your blog rather than in “advertising zones”, most of the time on the right side, upper portion and to the bottom of your page. A response rate on Google AdWords goes up. There are also indications showing that ads appearing on the right side of the page get clicked more than ads appearing on the left side.
Advertising analysts with degrees in human behavior and psychology have spent thousands of years studying how people read printed and Internet content and what it takes to get them to respond to ads. While some of these studies are proprietary, or are only available to anyone with $10,000 or more to spend on a copy, other studies have been made public and can be read by anyone who is interested.
That’s why it is important to test a lot and experiment with your Google AdSense placement and track the results over a period of time. Google provides response tracking tools in your AdSense control panel. Learn how to use them. As you begin to see what may be only subtle differences in response, you’ll be able to determine what works best for your particular site. But don’t get complacent. What’s working for you now might not work next month if you change your site design or content.
One of the most important factors in determining placement of your ads is the type of content that your site delivers. If you are primarily an e-commerce site, and you have a lot of pictures and ad copy for your own products competing for attention against AdSense ads, then it is going to be a particularly tough challenge getting any kind of decent Google AdSense clickthrough. It is situations like this that require very thorough testing and a lot of trial and error.
Blogs seem to have a lot of success generating high response rates to Google AdSense listings. Perhaps it’s because blog readers realize that ad revenue is the only way that their favorite blogmaster can keep the lights on, so the readers think of clicking on ads as a way to make a donation.
Regardless of what the experts say, the best thing you should do is to know where particular location of your site you would place your Google AdSense base on your own experience shows works best for you.

Honestly I’m not the expert on this course. Also that I never took any formal course about SEO because it is not offer in our school either, but after reading lots of articles in the web I got several things in my mind about what SEO means in Blogosphere.
First, SEO means Search Engine Optimization as the word itself optimizing by any effort to be on top of several search engine indexing of our site in which bloggers really help search engine to index their article and content to easily found when somebody wants to search your site.
Secondly, SEO is all about a proper use of keywords, key phrase, tags and necessary we must use our original words which is really better when it comes to SEO. It also means that in doing SEO we need to take some preparation in our research to find the right niche we will use in blogging. Also, then choose the proper keywords that is identical to the niches we have chosen. The more proper and identical the keywords, the more likely the search engine to index our page or content.
Besides, after choosing the right niche and keyword, we need to use the familiar key phrase people use in searching what they want in search engines. We do really feel intuitively that we will never use long key phrase while we are searching either in Google, Yahoo or MSN and any other search engines.
Lastly, SEO is all about consistency on updating the content of the blog. This is relating to pour your fresh and well-updated ideas on your blog. The more time you update your blog, the more search engine like your blog. And remember updating is not just you copy and paste from another blogs it is also relating to any original ideas which will reflect on your post or article throughout your blog.
